Official Rules For #Youth4Data Video Competition of the #Youth4OurDataFuture Project by the Datasphere Initiative on TikTok and Instagram.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. ODDS OF WINNING WILL DEPEND ON THE CREATIVITY AND QUALITY OF ENTRIES AS PER CRITERIA IN THESE OFFICIAL RULES. ENTRIES WILL BE CONSIDERED VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW, IF AGAINST THE TERMS OF SERVICES OF TIKTOK AND INSTAGRAM, OR IF OUTSIDE THE SCOPE OF THIS COMPETITION OR AGAINST ANY OF ITS OFFICIAL RULES. 

By participating in this competition between August 30, 2023 and February 3, 2024, by @youth4data, a project of the Datasphere Initiative Foundation (the “Sponsor”), a non-profit organization headquartered in Switzerland, you agree to these Official Rules, which are a contract, so read them carefully before participating. The details and requirements for entry or participation in this Competition are the discretion of the Sponsor. You must follow the directions provided by the @youth4data in its official Instagram and TikTok accounts, and also present at the project’s website, or directly by the Sponsor and otherwise be bound by and follow these Official Rules to be eligible to receive a prize.

I. ELIGIBILITY:

  1. The Youth4Data Video Competition is open to citizens from all over the world with a TikTok or an Instagram account, who at the moment they submit the video (the “Entry”) are eighteen (18) years of age or older (maximum 30 years old), or aged 13-17 with parent or legal guardian permission. Sponsor in its discretion may require a person who submits an Entry (the “Participant”) to provide verification of eligibility.
  2. The following individuals are not eligible to enter or win the competition: current Datasphere Initiative employees, associates and consultants, and anyone involved in the administration of the contest.
  3. Both individuals and groups are eligible to participate. If a group gets selected as a winner, only one member of the group will receive the Prize. Youth-led organizations are also encouraged to participate, but will only be eligible to receive one Prize if selected as winner.
  4. All personal information, such as your name, address, telephone number, email address and age, is collected solely for the purposes of administering this Competition as per these Official Rules, and related #Youth4OurDataFuture Project activities, and shall not be used for any other purpose without your consent. By providing this information, you consent to it being used by the Sponsor for the stated purposes in accordance with the Datasphere Initiative’s Privacy Notice.

II. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  1. The Entry’s message needs to be recorded in English, and it is allowed for additional elements to the Entry (e.g. soundtrack) be in other languages. 
  2. The Entry’s should have a duration of 1 min 30 seconds maximum.
  3. A Participant can submit more than one Entry as long as it responds to a different question or challenge as per the topics published on the project’s website.
  4. The Entry should follow the TikTok/Instagram Reel style and thus be recorded vertically.
  5. All Entries must follow these Official Rules, including the Entry Conditions below.

III. HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY:

The contest begins at 9:00 am ET on August 31, 2023 and ends at 11:59 pm ET on February 3, 2024. Steps for a Participant to submit an Entry for the competition are as follow, and check project’s website for further details and tips: 

  1. The Participant should follow @youth4data on Instagram and/or TikTok.
  2. The Participant must upload to Instagram and/or TikTok their original video, tagging @youth4data and using the hashtag #Youth4OurDataFuture in the caption or comment section of the post. 
  3. The Participant must complete and submit their video through this Entry Form
    1. To enter the competition it is mandatory to both post it on TikTok and/or Instagram, and fill in the Entry Form
    2. Videos will not be considered if the Participant does not fill in the Entry Form, as it is the only way for @youth4data to contact the Participant in case they win.
  4. The Participant’s Instagram and/or TikTok account should be public or, when private, the Participant must allow @youth4data to follow their account so the Entry is accessible. 
  5. Each eligible Participant may submit an unlimited number of Entries during the contest entry period. 

IV. ENTRY CONDITIONS:

  1. The Entry should be original and cannot infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
  2. The Entry and post caption cannot feature trademarks, logos, or brand names.
  3. The Entry is not made for any improper purpose such as to intimidate or harass any individual.
  4. No Entry shall contain any language or imagery which the Sponsor deems, in its sole and absolute discretion, to be inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, tortious, defamatory, or that promotes discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age. Entries must not contain any material that the Sponsor, in its sole discretion, deems inappropriate for public viewing and/or determines is contrary to the Sponsor mission. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any Entry that contains any such language or imagery or which otherwise may be in violation of any law. 
  5. Late, incomplete and/or inaccurate entries and entries not complying with all Official Rules are subject to disqualification. 
  6. Your submission of your Entry via Entry Form constitutes your legal representation that you are eligible to participate in the Youth4Data Video Competition, and that you have read and agree to be bound by these Rules.
  7. All information submitted via Instagram is subject to Instagram.com’s Terms of Use accessible at: https://help.instagram.com/478745558852511 and Privacy Policy accessible at: https://www.instagram.com/about/legal/terms/api/
  8. All information submitted via TikTok is subject to TikTok.com’s Terms of Use accessible at: https://ads.tiktok.com/i18n/official/policy/terms and Privacy Policy accessible at: https://ads.tiktok.com/i18n/official/policy/privacy
  9. Failure to follow any instructions provided by the Sponsor or to submit your entry within the applicable Entry Period via the Entry Form may result in disqualification. 
  10. The time of receipt of any valid Entry shall be the time such valid Entry becomes available to Sponsor.

V. JUDGING CRITERIA:

  1. All Entries will be judged by sole discretion of the #Youth4OurDataFuture Evaluation Committee. The Evaluation Committee shall select a winner using the following criteria:
    1. Relatable – content that the audience can connect to;
    2. Emotional – engages audience hearts;
    3. Simple – easy for audience to quickly grasp the key message;
    4. Original – unique and creative;
    5. Impactful – something that will be remembered after watching;
    6. Visual – visually captivating and uses images to tell a wider story;
    7. Empowering – has a clear call to action for the audience.
  2. Decisions of the Evaluation Committee are final and binding.

VI. WINNER AND PRIZES:

  1. There shall be one (1) Prize awarded to the top Entry by one Participant.
  2. Prize consist of one Meta Quest 2 VR headset of 128 GB. 
  3. No cash or other Prize substitutions are permitted except at Sponsor’s sole discretion.
  4. The winner will be announced on February 23, 2024, on our @youth4data Instagram and TikTok accounts, and Website. 
  5. By accepting an Award, the winner agrees to participate in and cooperate as required with all reasonable media editorial requests relating to the Award, including but not limited to, being interviewed and photographed, filmed and/or chaperoned throughout the duration of the Award;

VII. USE OF ENTRIES:

  1. Participants, when submitting their Entry(ies) give a non-transferable non-commercial copyright license to the Sponsor to allow the Sponsor to:
    1. Repost them on the @youth4data Instagram and TikTok accounts, 
    2. Post entries to the project website.
    3. Edit to create a consolidated final video with adaptations of the Entries collected throughout the Entry Period by the Datasphere Initiative Foundation for project promotion and reporting purposes.
  2. Finalist and winning entries for any Award will be showcased on the Competition website. Other entries may also be included in the showcase at the discretion of the Competition Host.

VIII. HOW THE PRIZE IS ASSIGNED:

  1. The Sponsor, via the contact provided in the Entry Form and via Direct Message to the potential winner’s Instagram/TikTok account, will contact the potential winner. 
  2. The potential winner has 72 hours to respond, and provide any additional information necessary in order to allow the Sponsor to distribute the prize.
  3. If the Winner decides to not accept the Prize, such a decision must be communicated in writing to the Sponsor, and the Sponsor will transfer the Prize to another Participant selected by the Evaluation Committee. 
  4. If there is a dispute as to the identity of the Winner, the Prize will be awarded to the authorized account holder of the Instagram/TikTok account associated with the winning Entry, as registered with Instagram/TikTok. 
  5. The Sponsor will process and ship the Prize, covering the shipping costs and all other prize related reasonable expenses to the Winner. 

IX. GUARANTEES AND WARRANTIES:

  1. The Sponsor accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected Entries due to technical disruptions, network congestion or any other reason.
  2. The Participants agree to indemnify the Sponsor against all claims and costs by third parties arising from any breaches of the law caused by the Participants in relation to the Competition including, but not limited to, intellectual property infringements.
  3. The Sponsor reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of Entries and the eligibility of Participants, and to disqualify any Participant who submits an Entry that is not in accordance with these Official Rules or who tampers with the entry process.
  4. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, the Sponsor (including their respective officers, employees, and agents) is not responsible for, and exclude all liability (including negligence) for, any personal injury, or for any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity), whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of of the production of an Entry. 
  1. High Resolves reserves the right to update, change or replace any part of these Official Rules by posting updates and/or changes to this website.

X. DISCLAIMER

The Youth4Data Video Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram or TikTok, and in no instance shall Instagram or TikTok and their subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers and directors be liable for any disputes, claims, causes of action or controversies arising out of or in connection with the Youth4Data Video Competition.
