The 18th annual IGF meeting was hosted in a hybrid format on October 8 – 12, 2023 in Kyoto, Japan.
The workshop “Sandboxes for Data Governance: Global Responsible Innovation” organized by the National Data Protection Authority of Brazil (ANPD) and the Datasphere Initiative analyzed the role of regulatory sandboxes in shaping current and future regulatory frameworks related to data governance, including those on data sharing, data protection, and AI. The session discussed initiatives developed in different countries, with the goal of answering questions related to:
The session explored similarities, as well as specific challenges that may have arisen due to cultural and socioeconomic aspects, in particular when comparing the experiences of the Global North and the Global South.
Lorrayne Porciuncula, Executive Director of the Datasphere Initiative, joined the workshop as a speaker to share the Datasphere Initiative’s work on sandboxes for data.
