The Datasphere Initiative has initiated a dialogue with experts and partners to map out the opportunities and challenges for modular charters and how a guiding roadmap could support actors and communities in governing their data while allowing others to access it, generating benefits for all.
In this context, the Datasphere Initiative organized the workshop “Fostering Responsible Access and Sharing of Data: A Charters Approach”, which took place online on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
In this invitation-only event, experts presented the challenges and opportunities for data access and sharing models, building from various contract process experiences and specific realities facing certain sectors. Technology innovations, including PETs and federated learning, were brought in as guardrails of norm application. The group then focused on how to organize cooperation on data responsibly, aiming at developing a protocol’s roadmap.
